  Name

The name of the organization is " Chinese Association of Earthquake Engineering"   (hereinafter referred to as the "Association and abbreviated as CAEE ).

The Association is composed of the two Earthquake Engineering Committees of the Chinese Seismological Society and Chinese Society of Building Architecture and any other organizations of earthquake engineering, approved for membership by the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee has the right to terminate the membership of any individual organization by a two thirds majority vote.

The Association does not accept individual member, but all the individuals affiliated with certain member organization naturally becomes an individual member of the Association.

Any organization willing to become a member of the Association, must submit an application to the Secretary General of the Association, affixed with official seal, formally applying for membership and indicating that if accepted the organization will abide by the statutes of the Association.

Each organization member shall designate one representative and 3-5 Deputy Representatives to the Association. The term of office of the representative and Deputy Representatives shall be four years but reappointments can be made. The representative (and Deputy Representatives) shall serve for not more than two successive terms.

The authority of the Association shall be exercised through:
      (a) The General Assembly of Representatives
      (b) The Executive Committee
      (c) The officers of the Association

The General Assembly of Representatives shall be composed of all representatives  appointed  by individual organization affiliated with the Association.

The functions of the General Assembly of Representatives shall be:
          To elect a President, Vice-Presidents and the executive members;
          To confirm recommendations for honorary members of the Association;
          To approve the Association policies and procedures;
          To amend these statutes according to Art 10-1.

The Executive Committee shall consist of the President, Vice-president, the Secretary General, the Deputy Secretary General and at least five additional Executive Members.

All the Executive Members including President, and Vice President except the Secretary General of the Executive Committee shall be selected by the General Assembly of Representative;

The Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General shall be nominated by the Earthquake Community where the Association is located and shall be confirmed by the Executive Committee.
